Position is Hybrid in Austin, TX
I. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
The Agency requires the services of 1 Developer/Programmer Analyst 3, hereafter referred to as Candidate(s), who meets the general qualifications of Developer/Programmer Analyst 3, Applications/Software Development and the specifications outlined below for the Agency.
The following describes the work that will be done by Programmer III
- Oversee the coding, testing, and debugging of programs as outlined by a system’s technical and functional requirements and oversee the preparation of test data.
- Oversee the development of and/or prepare flowcharts and diagrams.
- Oversee the preparation of and/or prepare instructions for use during production runs and coordinate the preparation and development of instructions or manuals for end users.
- Lead and coordinate the research and the analysis required for project proposal, software and systems modifications, and new projects.
- Analyze proposed computer applications in terms of equipment requirements and capabilities; evaluate database schemas, write and run SQL code, and deploy packages/triggers; review and revise programs to increase operating efficiency or to adapt new procedures.
- Analyze logs, system messages, thread connectivity, memory utilization, disk input/output, and disk space in order to troubleshoot application issues.
- Confer with staff members to schedule work and coordinate programming projects.
- Prepare detailed analyses, plans, diagrams, and verification procedures for existing and proposed computer applications.
- Develop standards and procedures for programming staff, and related interfaces and reports.
- Develop and implement specialized programs to supplement and enhance systems software.
- Recommend, coordinate, and implement changes to improve application and overall system performance.
- Create and maintain backup and restore processes to ensure business continuity.
- Coordinate, assign, and track the work of others.
- Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
II. CANDIDATE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Years Required Experience- 15 Required JAVA experience
- 10 Required SQL database experience
- 8 Required Sustaining and development experience in support of large applications in a team environment
- 5 Required Linux
Years Preferred Experience- 8 Preferred Atlassian tool suite, especially JIRA
- 8 Preferred Agile methodology
- 2 Preferred Experience with State of Texas applications; experience with *** environment
- 2 Preferred Experience transitioning applications from legacy mainframe environments to Java/SQL environment
