About the Opportunity

Kalamazoo Valley Community College is seeking a full-time Developer to explore, analyze, test, debug, implement, develop and support information systems,. The position would also include monitoring the status of our IT systems and maintaining these remotely during non-working hours.

Other duties will include:

  • Explore, analyze, develop and support college systems, servers, software and databases.
  • Support other members of the development team.
  • Monitor systems.
  • Resolve errors.
  • Assist other staff members with information technology projects.

Developers work with a broad range of technologies used at the college but may focus on web development, systems integration and management, programming and development and/or maintenance of the college ERP and associated databases.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Knowledge of server operating systems.
  • Knowledge of web application languages.
  • Skill in procedural or object-oriented programming techniques and languages.
  • Skill working with database languages and concepts.
  • Skill in following, creating and updating documentation and manuals.

Minimum Qualifications:

A combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities is required. An example of this would be some computer related training or coursework as well as demonstrated skills and knowledge of software development and/or web development, and/or database languages and concepts.
