What are your contributions to the team?

• Completed work is normally accepted as accurate; technical documents and recommendations are

reviewed only for feasibility, soundness of judgment and conformance with assigned objectives

• Provides technical guidance for problem resolution
• Plans and performs applied research, design and development work in an engineering speciality;

carries out experiments and tests and investigates unusual and difficult problems.

• Reviews and may approve documentation
• Highly recommended Specialist in one area: demonstrates depth skills in own discipline and

recognised by peers.

• Provides training to staff
• Work on problems of diverse scope; applies knowledge to intermediate to complex problems,

identifies with non-standard tasks/queries.

• Technical recommendations generally accepted as accurate and feasible.
• Work is carried out within broad guidelines, but informed guidance by a higher grade professional is

available.

• Performs as a technical authority in his/her field(s) of expertise.
• Elaborates plans on activities in field of expertise for short term to mid-term and occasionally, for

long term range.

• Recommends improvements and solutions.
• Work is done with relative flexibility however, technical guidance is available to review work and

advise on unusual features of assignments.

• Defines plans and coordinate all stakeholders to gain commitments and leads for results for short

term to mid-term range

• Plans and participates in reviews and provides status for intermediate to complex projects.
• May exercise a project management function
• Interfaces with internal and external partners and suppliers on plans, technical and commercial

aspects

• Responsible for the completion of assignments within budget, prescribed procedures and time

limits.

• Work is done following flexible parameters
• Anticipates client's needs; identifies short, mid and long term solutions
• Presents and explains new complex ideas objectively, prepares files and influences others.
• Receives technical and administrative direction from a more experienced professional
• Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of

other business units

• May exercise Group Lead function including participate in employee performance review
• Provides guidance to junior team members
