Design Engineer
Location: Oshkosh, WI (Hybrid or Remote Available)
Job Type: Contract (Extension Possible)
Pay Rate: $36.00 - $39.00 per hour
Schedule: Flexible Hours (Core Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM), 40 Hours per Week
Start Date: ASAP
About the OpportunityOur client is seeking a Design Engineer to support the design, analysis, and development of heavy-duty vehicle components and systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong mechanical background who wants to contribute to innovative vehicle programs while working alongside experienced engineering professionals.
The ideal candidate will have experience with CAD design, mechanical systems, and engineering analysis, along with a passion for solving technical challenges in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical components for heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and design investigations.
  • Support the development and integration of components into new and existing vehicle platforms.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, layouts, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and safety.
  • Assist with material and component selection through engineering analysis.
  • Provide technical support during prototype builds and production.
  • Troubleshoot engineering and manufacturing issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, quotations, and engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, manufacturing, suppliers, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, drawing practices, and company procedures.
  • Perform additional engineering duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Internship experience or at least six (6) months of related engineering experience.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive, heavy-duty vehicle, or related mechanical systems.
  • Experience using high-level CAD software.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) or more years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Strong mechanical design background.
  • Experience supporting heavy-duty vehicle or automotive product development.
  • Experience working in manufacturing or product development environments.
