Overview

A leading utility organization is seeking a Gas Utility Designer to support small gas regulation and regulator station projects. This role is responsible for owning design work end to end from initial design through issued for construction (IFR) and final as built documentation. The designer will create 3D models and detailed drawing packages, collaborate closely with engineers and project managers, and support field execution through accurate, constructible designs.
This is a hands on, collaborative role ideal for a designer who enjoys translating field requirements into high quality design deliverables and working independently within a trusted, team oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support small gas regulation station and regulator station projects (excluding large assets such as compressor stations)
  • Conduct site visits to gas facilities to support accurate design development
  • Develop designs from IFR through As Built, producing full drawing packages for each project phase
  • Create 3D models using CADWorx (or comparable tools) and translate them into fabrication and as built drawings
  • Ensure correct project classifications and accurate bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Revise and manage drawings throughout the project lifecycle
  • Maintain document control, versioning, and revision history
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and operations teams
  • Interpret drawings and specifications into real world field applications
  • Work independently on assigned projects after onboarding, seeking clarification as needed

Required Qualifications

  • 3 5 years of drafting and design experience
  • Proficiency with CADWorx (preferred) or comparable drafting/design software
  • Strong understanding of piping systems, pipe specifications, and bills of materials
  • Experience producing construction and as built drawings
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply them to field conditions
  • Strong document control and revision management skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently without micromanagement
  • Receptive to feedback and comfortable working in a relationship driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Utility or utility adjacent industry experience (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with gas distribution or regulation facilities
  • Geospatial or mapping experience
  • Background in construction design, P&IDs, architectural, or engineering drafting
  • Prior experience supporting regulated infrastructure projects
  • SAP exposure (nice to have, not required)
