Summary of Position

At Pathways High, all teachers collaborate to develop trimester-long interdisciplinary project-based learning seminars that address content area standards. All teachers serve as content-lead for their area of specialty and serve as full-time advisors, which involves guiding a diverse group of mixed-grade students through their learning career. The Design Thinking Specialist at Pathways High serves as the primary design thinking and art teacher at the school, and collaborates consistently across disciplines and content areas with other staff and special education staff. As the teacher of record, knowledge of teaching Design Thinking and Art at a high school level and understanding adolescent development is crucial to the success of a candidate in this position. While experience with Project based learning is preferred, it is not necessary for success in this position.

Core Responsibilities

Design and implement trimester-long, Project-Based Learning courses.

Serve as a full-time advisor, guiding mixed-grade students through their academic and personal development.

Build and maintain strong, supportive relationships with students.

Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement.

Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the school community.

Modify instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.

Develop students'' critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.

Assess and provide feedback on student progress to support their growth and learning.

Participate in staff professional development, meetings, and other staff events.

Work with high school students using an equity-based lens and trauma-informed practices.

Supervise at lunch, before, and after school as assigned.

Other responsibilities typical of a teacher as assigned.

Compensation

Full benefits package available which includes medical, dental and eye care. This is a 10.5 month position with a salary negotiable depending on experience and education.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements - Bachelors Degree (in Education or other related degree)
  • 6-12 Content Area Wisconsin Teaching Licensure or ability to obtain

Wisconsin Charter School Teaching Licensure or ability to obtain

  • Preferred - Masters Degree in Education/Content Area
