Description

CFMOTO USA is seeking a Design Engineer / Senior Design Engineer – Chassis to join our growing New Product Development team. This role will focus on designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems for ATVs and side‑by‑sides. The ideal candidate will have strong 3D CAD skills, experience in vehicle/system design, and a passion for powersports.Forward thinking design engineer for OHV products, with the ability to analyze, optimize, and evaluate high‑performance chassis systems and propose best solutions to R&D teamsWorks closely with Vehicle Architect, Product Management and Industrial Design to translate and incorporate customer requirements into feasible designs.Designs and develop vehicle systems for Proof‑of‑Concept that will translate to production vehicles. Primary focus will be on chassis, suspension and steering systemsCreates new concept designs with Siemens NX for evaluation prototype construction and testing.Analyzes and tests various mechanical systems of new and existing vehicles with a range of simulation & analysis toolsWorks at different stages of the product development process in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to develop CAD layouts, prototypes and Proof‑of‑Concept vehicles & mechanical systemsManages relationships and projects with suppliers based on established timelinesWorks with the R&D team in the execution of new ideas, technologies, and systems to improve the current product line, and create new & innovative industry firsts to satisfy the market requirements provided by the product teamCollaborates with cross‑functional teams, including product managers, industrial design, test engineers, suppliers and global development partners.Responsible for operating within standard operating procedures and following all company health & safety guidelinesEnsures a clean and safe work environmentOther duties as requiredQualificationsEducation & Experience RequiredBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field7+ years' previous experience in a similar role within the powersports, automotive, off‑highway, or similar industryMust be an analytical & forward‑thinking engineer, willing to challenge the status quo and evaluate the best way to achieve engineering solutions to satisfy product market requirementsAbility to safely ride and evaluate aspects of ORV performanceProficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programsProject management experience with strong communication & analytical skillsFamiliar with ROHVA, SAE, SVIA, ANSI, NHTSA, CPSC, DOT and other standards relating to the safety & certifications of vehicles being developed, with adherence to relevant requirementsProficiency in 3D CAD software (Prefer Siemens NX).Broad understanding of manufacturing methodsPrototype development and fabrication experience preferredProven understanding of suspension geometry and motion simulation a mustStrong background in metal forming, material properties and welded jointsAdditional informationNormal schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm; ability to work required hoursWorking conditions are normal for an office and shop environmentRequires use of office equipment such as computers, telephones, copy machinesThe wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of job‑related factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, certifications, education, location and other business and organizational needs.
