Job Title: Fixture Design Engineer
Location: PittsBurgh_Pennsylvania / Onsite

Job Summary:
A BIW (Body-in-White) Fixture Design Engineer develops the tooling and fixtures used to hold, locate, and weld automotive sheet metal components
Key Responsibilities
Concept Development: Create fixture concepts based on the 3-2-1 principle and BIW process layouts
3D Modeling & 2D Detailing: Design fixture units (e.g., clamps, locators, rests, and dump units) using CAD software like CATIA V5 or NX
Design Validation: Conduct robot payload validation for EOAT, and input checks for concept and 3D finish designs
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with process, simulation, and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for welding access and avoid clashes
Standards & Documentation: Adhere to OEM manufacturing standards and create detailed Bills of Materials (BOM), Pneumatic cylinder validation sheets (Clamp, Pin, Dump, Slide Units), manufacturing drawings
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering
Software Skills: Proficiency in 3D/2D CAD tools such as CATIA V5, Siemens NX
Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive sheet metal assembly, spot welding lines, and DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly)
Technical Competence:
Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and standard parts
Excellent hands-on experience in BIW Fixture design
Good Knowledge of BIW Process, welding process, Locator strategy/clamp plan
Good Knowledge of NAAMS standards and pneumatic clamp specifications and kinematics
Should have delivered Fixture design to OEM
