Job Overview

The Design Engineer is responsible for producing electrical connector and enclosure designs for Utility power applications. The Design Engineer collaborates with various marketing, manufacturing, and sourcing team memebers to bring projects from conception to completion using new product development processes, CAD software, simulation, and prototyping tools. This role is also responsible for creating test plans and design modifications to improve the quality and function of existing products.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and youll contribute in many ways. On any given day, youll make a difference by:

  • Participating in New Product Development (NPD) teams to deliver new products with a high degree of complexity; including requirements analysis and system design.
  • Designing, developing, testing, and validating product designs.
  • Performing testing, troubleshooting, and validation for new and existing products.
  • Designing and evaluating products, parts, and processes for cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Contributing design modifications to improve the quality and function of the products.
  • Interacting with marketing, sales, and production, as well as with vendors on product development.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (required)
  • Proficiency in CAD Software such as Inventor (required)
  • 3-6 years industry experience in electronics-based product development
  • Experience creating and testing product designs.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods. Process expereince including Casting, Extrusion, Stamping, Forming, and Machining.
  • Strong organizational skills in documenting design, testing, and validation processes
  • Experience with test equipment and measurement methodologies
  • Experience with designing and testing for regulatory requirements (UL, CSA, ANSI, etc.)
