The Project Engineer will lead design-build construction projects for the MTA, overseeing all phases from planning through completion. Description

  • Support Project Managers in delivering commercial and retail construction projects from start to finish
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and budgeting to ensure timelines and cost targets are met
  • Manage and track RFIs, submittals, permits, and project documentation
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain project flow
  • Review drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with project requirements
  • Monitor site progress, quality control, and safety compliance throughout construction
  • Support procurement and subcontractor buyout processes
  • Assist in tracking project costs, change orders, and financial reporting
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates to internal and external stakeholders
  • Help drive project closeout, including punch lists, O&M manuals, and final documentation

Profile

A successful Project Manager should have:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required (active license)
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 3-8+ years of experience in commercial, retail, or mixed-use construction projects
  • Strong understanding of project coordination, scheduling, and cost control
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Proven ability to work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Strong communication skills - able to coordinate with owners, consultants, and field teams
  • Hands-on experience with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.) preferred
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to drive tasks from preconstruction through closeout
