License and Certification Qualifications:
- Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
Education Qualifications:
- Master's degree in related field required. Doctorate degree in related field preferred.
Experience Qualifications:
- Eight years of educational leadership management experience required (both school principal and central office management desirable).
Skills Qualifications:
- Knowledge of teaching and learning processes; knowledge of organization and management theory and practice; knowledge and commitment to decentralized decision making and accountability for results that facilitate planning and creative processes toward achievement of district expected results; knowledge of school finance, budget development and implementation and support services delivery systems; ability to work and communicate effectively with people to focus resources (both human and financial) toward the achievement of district-identified goals; demonstrated success working with and through people in establishing goals, objectives and action plans consistent with district goals; ability to facilitate group processes in consensus building, conflict resolution, solution planning and decision-making; understands that quality teaching and learning are the essential processes and product of public schools and has the ability to focus human and financial resources to support this end.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction to advance the mission of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) to ensure skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to succeed. Supervise the planning, implementation and monitoring of all schools and educational programs. Facilitate principal supervisors (assistant superintendents) and the interrelation of appropriate government agencies, public and private institutions and non-rofit organizations into a partnership of support for the mission of GCPS.
Essential Job Duties:
- Provide support to the Superintendent in strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of results of curriculum and instructional initiatives.
- Lead all functions and services within the Curriculum and Instructional Support and School Improvement and Operations Divisions consistent with district goals.
- Lead the development of plans and identify expected goals for each department in the Curriculum and Instructional Support and School Improvement and Operations Divisions.
- Lead the coordination of ongoing diagnosis and assessment of academic achievement by directing the collection, analysis, and reporting of data.
- Provide direction to learning communities to facilitate strategic planning, curriculum enhancement, development, and instructional issues in support of district goals.
- Lead the facilitation and coordination of partnerships with community agencies/organizations and education institutions for mutual goal achievement.
- Plan and implement a system of feedback and evaluation regarding the effectiveness of the Curriculum and Instructional Support and School Improvement and Operations Divisions as perceived by users of their support services.
- Ensure the Superintendent is informed of current critical issues within the divisions and incidents about which he/she and the Board of Education should be aware.
- Follow the district's policies and procedures as related to guidelines and the district's instructional initiatives.
- Develop leadership and evaluate the work of divisional personnel.
- Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by the district.
- Participate and attend training and development opportunities to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
- Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
- Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.
Follow the district's policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
