Develop and lead multi-disciplinary team of professionals of various levels of education from early childhood to post-secondary education to ensure coordinated and comprehensive approach to service delivery for youth and their families.
Job Duties:Knowledge of tribal laws, policies and procedures, requirements, services and tribal/community resources relevant to program and youth/family needs. Provides leadership and direction for a coordinated management system of Education Services Programs. Provide effective and supportive leadership to program staff to ensure their ability to successfully carryout program duties and services. Provides direction to subordinate management and staff in matters of department operations. Develops, implements and maintains guidelines and procedures for department operations. Formulates goals and objectives for the department, and for each function within the department. Assists in developing and implementing long and short term plans for the department - primarily plans for services, staffing and budgets. Work with programs and Grant Services to seek out and apply for relevant grant and funding opportunities to expand program services. Ensures completion and submission of required reports due to tribal leadership and program funding agencies. Coordinates special projects to ensure successful delivery of services ensuring safety of participants and staff i.e. Remember the Removal Bike Ride, Camp Cherokee, and Archery Tournaments. Evaluate program delivery, effectiveness and safety through onsite visits. Ongoing review, evaluation and revision of program policies and procedures guiding the delivery of services. Communicates and reports department operational information and activities to Executive Director. Coordinates, assigns and delegates the activities and functions to the appropriate department staff. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises five (5) to twenty (20) employees in the Education Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Master's degree; no substitutions.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
At least five (5) years of experience in a related field.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should know Accounting software, Database software, Human Resources systems, Internet software, Order Processing systems, Payroll systems, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
