Responsibilities

The Office of Financial Aid is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units: Office of Admissions, Office of the University Registrar, Office of Financial Aid, and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management's integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the students development and progression in their academic experience - from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University.

Director is responsible for operation management and administrative direction for the Office of Financial Aid. Serves as delegate to the Assistant Vice Provost & Director for Financial Aid in his/her absence.

Responsible for the operational management, administrative direction, and overall coordination of university financial aid funds. Directs the universitys federal, state, and institutional resources including the packaging, authorization, and disbursement of financial aid. Provides direction, development, and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations operational efficiencies. Oversees the distribution and reconciliation of financial aid for timely and accurate dissemination of fund types.

Directs the development of university-wide student financial aid services, including the planning, organizing, budget development, and staffing within the Office of Financial Aid. Responsible for funds management of federal, state, and university resources as it applies to the awarding of Title IV aid, ensuring compliance with regulation usage and awarding criteria. Leads the efforts in formulating and administering the operating budget and appropriate expenditure of all funds allocated for department administration.

Provides leadership in establishing, updating, communicating, and implementing policies and procedures for financial aid programs and ensures areas meet federal, state, and university regulations. Leverages information systems, financial aid systems, and technology-based solutions to enhance the business process as well as increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of packaging initiatives through a student's lifecycle. Leads in the interpretation and research of federal, state, and University regulation relating to student financial aid and scholarships. Develops and recommends policy and procedures as well as ensures compliance within the Office of Financial Aid.

Oversees federal, state, and university audits. Leads and identifies risk management efforts and coordinates the review of internal controls for efficient business processes while also meeting compliance with university, federal, and state regulations. Leads program directors in the development of internal quality assurance audits. Collaborates with Assistant Vice Provost & Director of Financial Aid on significant regulatory developments and financial aid program enhancements.

Extensive contact with students, parents, University officials, State/Federal agencies, University Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, staff and faculty, and the general public. Serves as a delegate to the Assistant Vice Provost & Director for Financial Aid in his/her absence.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree and six years of experience related to academic and/or student services; or a high school diploma/equivalent and ten years of related experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to ten years.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education administration, strategic planning, assessment leadership, or related field.
  • Experience working as part of a team and with process partners across functional boundaries and the ability to work within a collaborative team setting and build partnerships across the campus community.
  • Experience advising multiple student populations with the ability to interpret and apply regulations and policies.

Anticipated Salary Range

The anticipated salary range for this position is in the $60,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
