We are seeking a Deputy CTO – Grid Solutions to provide strategic and technical leadership across a portfolio of advanced grid platforms supporting utilities, transmission operators, and renewable energy integration.
This is a senior executive role responsible for driving technology strategy, product innovation, and platform development across next-generation grid automation and digital energy systems.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Deputy CTO will lead the development and execution of the technology roadmap across core grid platforms, while overseeing both innovation initiatives and product commercialization efforts.
This role sits at the intersection of grid modernization, AI-driven analytics, and large-scale energy infrastructure, ensuring alignment between engineering, product, and market needs.
Product Portfolio Oversight
• Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS)
• Utility SCADA platforms
• Asset Performance Management (APM)
• Time-series data platforms / historians
• Wide Area Monitoring Systems (WAMS)
• Phasor Data Concentrators (PDC)
• Substation and protocol gateway platforms
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Leadership
• Partner with the CTO to define and execute technology strategy for grid digital platforms
• Drive architecture and roadmap development across the Grid Solutions portfolio
• Align product innovation with utility market demands and grid modernization trends
• Champion scalable, platform-based architectures across products
Innovation (New Technology Initiatives)
• Lead advanced technology programs focused on:
– AI/ML for grid analytics
– Edge computing for grid automation
– Real-time grid data platforms
– Grid cybersecurity and control systems
• Identify emerging technologies and drive innovation pipelines
• Build partnerships with research institutions and industry leaders
• Transition new technologies into commercial products
Product Development (New Product Initiatives)
• Oversee product architecture and engineering governance
• Lead development of grid platforms including DERMS, SCADA, WAMS, and data systems
• Ensure scalability, interoperability, and cybersecurity across platforms
• Drive product lifecycle management and global product launches
Customer & Market Engagement
• Support strategic engagements with utilities, grid operators, and energy developers
• Provide technical leadership in large grid modernization programs
• Collaborate with sales and solution teams on complex pursuits
• Represent the organization in industry forums and thought leadership initiatives
Organizational Leadership
• Build and lead high-performing global engineering and product teams
• Mentor architects, product leaders, and engineering managers
• Strengthen technical capabilities across the Grid Solutions organization
Requirements
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 18+ years of experience in power systems, grid automation, or energy technology
• 10+ years of leadership experience in product development or technology organizations
• Experience leading grid software platforms such as DERMS, SCADA, or grid analytics systems
• Strong experience working with utilities, transmission operators, or grid modernization programs
• Proven ability to lead large-scale, complex technology initiatives
