Position Title: Deputy Clerk Recorder of Deeds (Full-Time, Non-Exempt)

Department: County Clerk and Recorder

Hours: Monday Friday 8:00a 4:30p, except Holidays

Summary

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented team member to join the Recorder of Deeds division at the Champaign County Clerk's office! This position performs a wide variety of clerical duties associated with processing and maintaining official records. We are looking for someone who wants to work with a fun and supportive team. This is a full-time union position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to the following as other duties may be assigned.

  • Answers phones.
  • Assists customers at the counter.
  • Responds to email and queries from customers.
  • Takes in money and issues receipts.
  • Assists customers with looking up information contained in a variety of public records, filling out forms, and in retrieval and recording documents.
  • Posts changes in permanent record books and balances these figures against computer print outs/tie outs.
  • Maintain ledger books and financial records on a large number of accounts.
  • May type correspondence, bills for services, documents, abstracts, and forms.
  • Helps with opening and closing duties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)/associate's degree and two years of responsible office/clerical experience -OR- equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to keep confidential sensitive information.
  • Strong analytical or problem-solving ability.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid computer skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Time management with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Professional demeanor at work.

Compensation

  • Wage Rage: $18.45 - $23.38 per hour, depending on qualifications.
