General Summary/Purpose of Position
Department Technician
The Department Technician will be responsible for reviewing applications for multiple grants and will be expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of each program's eligibility requirements as it pertains to statute.
Projects include, but are not limited to:
" Mentoring and Induction District 27h Support Application Review
Required Qualifications
" Excellent oral and written communication skills.
" Software experience preferred for the position:
Microsoft Suite
Zoom
Google Docs
" Access to a personal computer or laptop that has a functional camera and microphone.
" Reliable internet connection.
" Valid Driver's License or State ID.
Desired Qualifications
" Experience reviewing grant applications
" Excellent time management skills
" Experience working independently and in a team setting.
" Proficient in typing 40wpm or more

DEPARTMENTAL TECHNICIAN
i. Conduct special studies and surveys in such areas as feasibility of offering new services, improvement of efficiency, economy and centralization or decentralization of services.
ii. Write and revise procedures to accommodate changes and to ensure consistency in form and format.
iii. Review and evaluate documents, such as incorporation papers, insurance policies, teachers' certificates, contracts, bonds, deeds, leases and permits to determine if prescribed requirements or qualifications are met; certifies as to the eligibility of persons or the acceptance of documents.
iv. Conduct interviews by telephone to follow up on complaints and determine need for further review. Compile, review, and monitor financial, statistical and other programmatic data.
v. Prepare and/or edit reports and publications, with latitude as to the material to be included; conduct related correspondence.
vi. Use computer databases to record and analyze data on program and service activities.
vii. Process applications for grants and reimbursement of funds by reviewing and verifying supporting documents.

List of Duties
" Meet all application review deadlines.
" Complete all required application review training.
" Contractors will complete virtual and/or asynchronous training sessions, complete reviewer orientation, and use the provided materials and instructional reviewer documents when reviewing applications.
" Contractors will be expected to review and verify that all supporting documents from applications meeting the program requirements as indicated in the completed training.
" Contractors will be required to use the spreadsheets and rating sheet developed for the program and score each individual application as indicated in the completed training.
" Contractors will be expected to maintain records that will include providing comments to justify reasons for denying an application.
" Contractors will be expected to provide clear and concise notes for program team members on applications that require further review.
" Contractors must complete a form to disclose any type of conflict of interest regarding application reviews as required by the Department.
" Contractors must not have participated in a districts's application process for the Mentoring and Induction 27h District Support grant.
" Complete request forms to access MiLogin and GEMS/MARS.
" Attend all required virtual meetings and virtual review sessions. Scheduling options will be provided. The Department will make attempts to work with your schedule.
Note: Daytime office hours will be made available by MDE staff to answer reviewer questions.
