Description

Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire a Department Personnel Coordinator. The Personnel Coordinator is an administrative professional classification who may also be a work lead or supervisor. The Personnel Coordinator is responsible for performing professional and technical duties in coordinating department personnel related actions, budgeting and may perform supervisory duties.

This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. This position will work remote and out of 3482 Broadway, Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $67,068.00 - $81,834.00 Annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline:

  • Phone Screening: Week of August 10th
  • First Round Interviews: Week of August 17th
  • Second Round Interviews: Week of August 24th
  • Reference Check: Week of August 24th

New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Examples of Duties

  • Verifies accuracy of the personnel schedules ensuring all FTEs of department are budgeted correctly
  • Verifies accuracy of employee timekeeping job ledger codes for department
  • May oversee FMLA/STD coordination with division supervisors, county payroll, and HR Benefits Specialist
  • May conduct criminal background investigations for all prospective new employees
  • Oversees and coordinates the collection of employee information for reports and statistical research
  • Coordinates start dates for new employees with supervisors and initiates employee new-hire procedures ensuring all internal policies are followed
  • Provides information to employees, reviews, verifies and processes documents requiring expertise interdepartmental procedures, state statutes and legal forms
  • Prepares budgeting spreadsheets regarding pay increases/bonuses to ensure the department stays within budget
  • Oversees and coordinates the recruitment process with supervisors and provides them with a checklist for interviewing and hiring a new employee
  • May oversee operations, procurement, travel coordination, supply ordering, and general office management
  • May manage use of County-issued purchasing cards (p-cards), Oracle systems, and departmental purchase orders to track and control spending
  • May be the work lead or supervisor of administrative staff; provides training, mentorship, coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action as needed
  • May delegate and approve expenditures within budgetary guidelines; monitors departmental spending, conducts budget audits, and ensures accurate financial coding
  • May review, maintain or update various logs, schedules, procedures, or certifications as appropriate based on the department
  • May coordinate building operations or maintenance
  • Performs special projects of complex administrative, technical or confidential nature
  • Performs related work, as required
  • May be reassigned during emergency situations

  • 1 (one) year of supervisory experience or willingness to get a supervisory certificate within a year of hire

Vacation

Vacation and Medical leave are based off of full time FTE accruals. Part-time FTE/term employees accrue leave based on the percentage of time they work.
