Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Three years of experience in heavy equipment operation, public works inspection, public works construction or public works maintenance to include one year of supervisory experience are required. Must possess a Driver license. Must obtain a CDL/Class A with tanker endorsement during the probationary period.

Recruitment Notes

The Public Works Supervisor 2 position within the Road, Bridge and Canal Maintenance Division is responsible for supervising field operations that support the maintenance of Miami-Dade County's roadway, drainage, sidewalk, bridge, canal, and right-of-way infrastructure. The division's purview includes, but is not limited to, pothole and roadway repairs, sidewalk inspections and repairs, guardrail maintenance, drainage system cleaning and repairs, flooding response, canal and ditch maintenance, mechanical harvesting, mowing, debris removal, bridge maintenance support, and emergency response operations.

The position shall supervise crews responsible for responding to 311 service requests, completing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, coordinating equipment and material needs, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, documenting work in the County's Enterprise Asset Management System, and supporting storm preparation and post-storm recovery efforts. The role requires strong leadership, operational planning, field supervision, communication, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume public works environment. Experience with supervision of construction projects, excavation, heavy equipment operation and other construction activities preferred.
