St. James Parish Government is hiring a Receptionist for the Department of Human Services (Social Services).
JOB FUNCTION: This position is responsible for serving as the first point of contact for visitors and clients, managing front desk operations while performing administrative and customer service tasks. This position is classified as essential during declared emergencies or natural disasters and non-exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Computer literacy and good written and oral communication skills are necessary.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education equivalent; 1 year related experience and/or training preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid La. Class “D” driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.
