Description This position is responsible for the strategic development and overall leadership of the Burns & McDonnell (BMcD) Mission Critical Practice in the California (CAL) regional office related to Architecture and Engineering. This position will build upon the team in the CAL office to grow the practice in a dynamic and profitable manner based upon Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety, and overall outstanding service.
This position will coordinate with Global Facilities (GFS) CAL leadership and Mission Critical National leadership and resources.
Specific areas of responsibility include the following:
Leadership
Grow the Mission Critical team providing opportunities for individuals to develop and have long careers with BMcD
Foster an environment and team based on MacCulture Principles
Continue to provide a strong, nationally and internationally recognized team that provides solid and reliable profits and value for GFS CAL and BMcD
Empower team members as Employee Owners and direct Client Managers/Coordinators
Focus on overall team, GFS CAL, and office morale
Operations
Recruit key talent for continued success and growth - new grads, mid-level, and senior staff
Ensure ongoing intern program and development
Mentor section managers
Lead, set goals, and create accountability for direct reports
Serve, potentially, as project manager on key projects
Assist with overall GFS CAL business and strategic planning
Coordinate resources with GFS CAL, national Mission Critical, Burns & McDonnell India, and other BMcD offices as needed
Support department managers and section managers with personnel issues
Lead annual performance review program for CAL Mission Critical Architectural and Engineering teams and coordinate with National GFS team.
Business Development (secondary role)
Identify target clients for BMcD Mission Critical
Strengthen existing client relationships to expand Mission Critical design and construction opportunities.
Coordinate with national Mission Critical on pursuits and opportunities
Work with Marketing and Mission Critical team resources to develop and approve of Qualifications and Proposals
Identify project opportunities early and facilitate go/nogo decisions in coordination with office leadership and Mission Critical practice leadership
Ensure the risk process is championed and followed
Empower and create accountability for the Mission Critical leadership in business development
Technical
Develop and foster Technical Training program. Coordinate across all GFS CAL Lanes when applicable
Ensure Quality Program is followed. Set up ongoing Quality Training Program
Improve overall project delivery and processes. Continually improve best practices and standards
General
Ensure safe work environment, in office and when on-site, and overall safety-focused culture
Communicate and keep team current on relevant issues
Support corporate, regional, and GP initiatives
Coordinate and build relationships with other GFS CAL Leads
Travel is required and will vary. Potential range 10 - 25% of time
Billability will vary.
Measures of Performance:
These performance measures will be developed and reviewed in cooperation with the GFS CAL Global Practice Manager, Mission Critical Practice Leadership, and Regional Office Leadership.
Attainment of income, and staff size goals
Attainment of billable time targets for the team
Ability to maximize profitability on projects
Ability to attract, hire, develop, and retain the best people into BMCD
Ability to execute projects meeting or exceeding client expectations for quality, schedule, and budget
Ability to execute projects meeting or exceeding internal expectations for quality, schedule, labor/cost budgets, project profitability, safety, and client satisfaction
Promote and develop proficiency in integrated design-build delivery methods
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field from an accredited program.
Minimum 7 years related professional experience in engineering or architectural design (conceptual or detailed) and/or project management with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the commercial and/or industrial industry.
Experience must include experience related to project scope definition, scoping studies, technical development, EPC bidding, and capital cost estimating of related projects.
Previous management experience is required.
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
Must possess a strategic perspective.
Must be proficient in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Compensation
$190,000.00-400,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
