New Bedford Community Health (NBCH) is a fast-paced federally qualified Community Health Center dedicated to advancing preventive and holistic health through innovative, compassionate and evidenced-based care. Our mission is to deliver integrated dental, medical, and mental health outpatient care to the diverse and underserved patient populations in New Bedford.
The Dentist will examine patients, review medical histories, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide appropriate treatment and education to the patient. The Dentist will document treatment appropriately in the Electronic Health Record and follow the Health Center's policies and procedures regarding quality care and compliance.

Limited License Dentist
Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to manage and provide appropriate dental care to
patients of all ages
(periodic, comprehensive, limited/emergency), prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, simple extractions, limited
surgical extractions, removable prosthodontics, fixed prosthodontics, single canal endodontic treatment, implant
restoration, amalgam and composite and glass ionomer restorative treatments, sealants, prescription of
medications, oral hygiene instructions, and counseling
Responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of dental treatment plans
Work collaboratively with the other Dental Department staff including, but not limited to dental hygienists, dental
assistants, dental receptionists, dental director, sterilization staff, dental practice manager, registration
supervisor, and the other dentists
status and utilize additional resources when indicated to ensure patients and/or families make informed
decisions
Maintain professional behavior towards all patients, employees, and visitors to the Health Center.
Maintain accurate, legible, and timely (within 2 business days) documentation of patient encounters in the dental

Requirements
Ability to effectively communicate with patients as well as other healthcare providers from diverse backgrounds
and their families with compassion and understanding
Must be meticulous and observant as well as able to focus when evaluating and treating patients
Strong critical thinking skills in evaluating patients and administering appropriate treatments
Experience in, and commitment to quality improvement
Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese preferred
Education
I. Education: Dental Degree (DDS/DMD) from an approved dental school
II. Experience: Knowledge of community health and public health principles/practices and a commitment to
providing health care to individuals and families in a medically underserved community.
III. Licensure: Eligible to obtain a Dental Intern Limited License, and willing to obtain an active DEA, and
Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration within one (1) year of hire.
IV. Software/Hardware: Strong EMR skills.
