POSITION SUMMARY
Dental Support Floater will provide administrative and front desk coverage to support the dental department staffing needs and operations across clinic sites in the Baton Rouge area. The Dental Support Floater provides coverage for the Insurance Coordinatoras needed. The Dental Support Floater will provide quality and excellent patient-centered service to dental patients while maintaining the dental department operational workflow.
- ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Works professionally as a team member in conjunction with the dental staff responsible for policies, other department employees and center.
- Operates within the guidelines established by department and CareSouth's policies and procedures.
- Participates in CQI activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Dental Administrative Assistant:
- Enter new and/or updated information for dental patients.
- Provide appointment scheduling and registration services for walk-in and work-in patients.
- Schedule appointments for dental patients. Enter required patient information, new and/or updated, into computer.
- Cancels or reschedules appointments as required using computerized patient appointment system.
- Coordinate, track, and follow up on patient referrals to dental specialists and for medical clearances from primary care or specialty physicians; ensure all required documentation is obtained, recorded accurately, and communicated to the care team in a timely manner.
- Proactively contact patients with incomplete dental treatment plans to facilitate follow-up appointments and support continuity of care.
- Scan in labs.
- Assist with RW eligibility and complete extra funds form.
- Oversee and maintain sterilization records in compliance with Louisiana State Board of Dentistry protocols.
- Refer patients unable to pay for services or medication to Front Desk staff and/or the Insurance Coordinator for financial eligibility assistance.
- Oversee the proper use and monitoring of radiation badges for all dental team members in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Provide administrative support, including preparation of reports for board meetings, and assist the Dental Director as needed.
Front Desk Representative:
- Check patients in and out, ensuring all required information is accurate and complete.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments in accordance with scheduling guidelines and CareSouth protocols, policies and policies.
- Answer incoming calls, address patient inquiries, and route calls as appropriate
- Verify and update patient demographic information, as necessary.
- Conduct household income assessment to calculate sliding fee scale costs for services.
- Collect co-pays, outstanding balances, and process payments
- Accept payments/co-payments and balance sales transaction batches daily.
- Triage dental walk-in patients and schedule appropriately or consult with a dental
provider.
- Read and communicate dental treatment plans and financial responsibility to patients
utilizing correct terminology.
- Confer with customers by telephone to provide information about services, schedule and
confirm appointments and cancellations, and obtain details of complaints.
- Maintain accurate patient records in electronic dental systems
- Scans all patients' identification, household income information, and insurance
verification information into computer.
- Coordinate and confer with the Dental Insurance Coordinator to streamline the patient
check-in. This will include standard process regarding Insurance co-pays, deductibles and
necessary documents required for the Sliding Fee Scales.
- Thoroughly and accurately explain the promissory note to patients, scan and document
into the computer.
- Update promissory note for patients at follow-up visit.
- Make appropriate referrals to the Billing Department or Dental Insurance Coordinator for
any patients who have financial questions and concerns.
General Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and visitors in a professional, friendly manner. Greet and determine the needs of callers, visitors or patients, answering questions based on knowledge of CareSouth and/or policies and procedures.
- Effectively, comprehensively utilizes the electronic medical record (EMR) entering
patient demographic data and insurance records.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards according to CareSouth policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with providers, dental assistants, and hygienists to support daily workflow
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to proper chain of command.
- Keeps Dental Operations Manager/Dental Director aware of issues, changes to and/or pertinent problems, and situations requiring follow-up attention.
- Participates in CareSouth sponsored functions (i.e. health fairs, community events, etc.).
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested by supervisor within the scope of the job category/class.

- REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Additional education relating to the dental field is preferred.
- Hands-on computer operations experience in a dental work environment.
- Current CPR certification is required.
- Minimum of two years of experience working in a dental office.
- Experience in collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
