Position Overview The Dental Floor Supervisor plays a key leadership role in ensuring smooth daily operations within the dental clinic. Under the direction of the Dental Director/Dentist this position oversees dental assistants supports scheduling and workflow efficiency and helps maintain a high standard of patient care and clinical quality. This role also provides training operational oversight and hands-on support within the dental practice.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Training Supervise orient and train Dental Assistants. Ensure proactive and adequate staffing levels in collaboration with the Dental Director/Dentist. Coordinate onboarding and training with the Dental Scheduling Supervisor.

Operational Oversight Oversee day-to-day operations including laboratory sterilization hazardous waste disposal and supply inventory. Monitor dental assistant workflows and collaborate with schedulers to optimize patient flow.

Clinical & Administrative Support Provide backup support to Dental Assistants and Scheduling staff including check-out appointment scheduling phone coverage and routine assisting duties. Support dental EMR use and ensure provider schedules are coordinated effectively. Manage incoming and outgoing referrals.

Patient Care Flow & Quality Oversee telephone and walk-in triage and escalate concerns to the Dental Director. Support patient registration and front office coordination. Participate in continuous quality improvement including chart audits. Assist in developing and implementing dental protocols and procedures.

Facility & Compliance Oversee operatory setup and sterilization per OSHA infection control guidelines. Maintain dental equipment in alignment with manufacturer standards. Coordinate with the business office regarding dental billing processes. Ensure compliance with all dental and organizational policies.

Other Duties Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Dental Director/Dentist.

Desired Skills Proficiency with dental software scheduling systems computers and phone systems Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work effectively with diverse populations Excellent organization prioritization and problem-solving abilities Leadership capability and a team-oriented mindset Ability to remain calm under pressure Experience with multi-line phone systems and general office equipment Knowledge of dental terminology Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word Excel Outlook Bilingual preferred

Minimum Qualifications

Education High school diploma or equivalent required Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program preferred

Experience Minimum of 3 years as a Dental Assistant required Experience training staff or coordinating dental office operations preferred Current BLS certification required

Physical Requirements Ability to walk bend lift carry write and communicate effectively Occasional moderate lifting up to 20 lbs Exposure to blood/body fluids requires adherence to OSHA safety procedures
