Type: Urban Salary Range: $200,000 to $246,750 / Per Year Open Period: 5/12/2026 until filled Summary: Title: Dental Director Location: Dental Clinic - 12750 SE Stark St Building E, Portland, OR 97233 Schedule: This is an in-person position, Monday through Friday Wage Range: $200,000.00 $246,750.00 annual salary, Exempt Position Overview: The Dental Director has the responsibility for the ongoing development and implementation of a comprehensive system of oral health care for NARA. The Dental Director will work to provide leadership and in developing and implementing collaborative and integrated services with NARA in a culturally appropriate manner. In addition, the Dental Director will provide clinical supervision to all dental staff and work closely with the Dental Manager to carry out dental operations. Duties: What you will do: -Maintains a clinical patient load that is equivalent to 0.75 FTE clinical dentist/ provides hands-on patient care as scheduled each week -Develop, maintain and implement formal clinic policies and procedures; guide dentists and professional staff to deliver consistent standards of care according to policies and assuring highest quality of clinical practices are delivered -Collaborate with the Dental Manager and other management to ensure smooth operation of clinic and programs including staffing and patient visit ratios, scheduling, cost-benefit of programs; advise on facilities and equipment purchases and repairs -Performs chart reviews in accordance with NARA polices and adheres to the standards of those policies -Ensures programs are developed to meet client needs and client utilization is appropriate -Develops and monitors client outcomes and ensure the highest level of patient care -In consultation with and under the direction of the Compliance Officer ensure compliance to current OSHA regulations, Infection Control standards, safety and hazard procedures and accreditation requirements. -This position will closely and collaboratively work with the Medical Director, Health Services Officer and other program directors accepting cultural guidance and support, to achieve the highest quality of services and best outcomes for clients and community. -Supervises the day-to-day clinical activities of all dental provider staff. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the clinic, and as may be required by the Board of Directors to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained. -Maintains and understands designated Oregon Board duties assigned to dentists, dental assistants dental hygienists and dental therapist -Participates in the State of Oregon''s Dental Therapy pilot project (DPP #100) by providing general oversight and guidance to the implementation of DPP#100 project at NARA -Assists, develops and maintains relationship with the nine Oregon tribes and other tribes across the country, Indian Health Service, Health Resource & Services Administration, Oregon Primary Care Association, the State of Oregon and other healthcare entities. -Develops and maintains relationships with the Native community and ensures their involvement in program design and operation Qualifications: We would like to hear from people that have: -A Doctor of Dental Medicine degree or a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from a college or university accredited by the American Dental Association -Possession of a valid license to practice dentistry issued by the State of Oregon. -Have or be able to obtain a Controlled Substance Registration Certificate. -Three years of dental clinic or professional work experience -1 year of Management experience required -Oregon Nitrous Oxide endorsement. If nitrous oxide endorsement is not available, must have this certification within 6 months of hire -Maintains at least Basic Life Support certification -Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, the community, and other staff members. -Work collaboratively with clients, other NARA staff, team members, and to treat everyone with respect and dignity at all times. -Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus. -Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests. -Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.
