Job Summary: The Community Health Center of Lockport, located in Lockport, NY, is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide high-quality care to patients following federal, state, and local standards. The Dental Assistant will work closely with the Dentist, performing four-handed dentistry tasks, seating and dismissing patients, sterilizing instruments, taking radiographs, managing inventory, handling basic equipment maintenance, and performing various clerical duties. This role requires maintaining a professional and supportive attitude towards all patients and attending staff meetings. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent - Previous experience in a dental office - Preferably hold a registered dental assistant certification Responsibilities: - Assist the dentist in various procedures using four-handed dentistry principles - Seat and dismiss patients, maintain cleanliness in the operatory and dental laboratory - Clean and sterilize dental instruments, develop radiographs - Manage inventory of dental supplies, perform laboratory duties, and clerical tasks - Utilize computerized systems for patient registration and other clerical procedures - Perform basic equipment maintenance tasks, including changing suction machine filters Requirements: - Ability to work independently and flexibly - Exhibit personal integrity and professionalism - Effective communication and interpersonal skills - Willingness to work with patients from diverse backgrounds - Capability to handle physical demands of the role, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching Salary: - Registered Dental Assistant: $18.78 - $22.46 per hour - Dental Assistant without certification: $17.78 - $21.46 per hour The Dental Assistant position is a Union member of 1199 SEIU.
