Job Title: Propane Delivery Driver

Position Purpose:
The Propane Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of propane to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This role involves operating bulk delivery vehicles, conducting safety checks, maintaining delivery records, and providing excellent customer service while adhering to company and DOT regulations.

Typical Job Duties:

1. Safely load, transport, and deliver propane to customer locations following all safety procedures and regulatory guidelines.

2. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation.

3. Perform leak tests and visual inspections of customer tanks and systems before and after delivery.

4. Document delivery tickets, meter readings, and delivery reports accurately and in a timely manner.

5. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and office staff regarding delivery schedules, service issues, and route changes.

6. Assist customers with propane safety information and basic operational instructions.

7. Maintain a clean and organized delivery vehicle and ensure proper equipment storage.

8. Follow company safety policies and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

9. Participate in regular safety meetings and training programs.

10. Perform other duties as assigned by the District Manager.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, pull, and carry hoses up to 75 pounds, stand, walk, bend, and climb. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Working Conditions:
Primarily field-based, operating in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. Exposure to propane vapors, pressurized systems, and outdoor elements. Requires on-call, overtime, or weekend work during peak seasons.

Equipment and Machines Used:
Bulk propane delivery truck, hoses, meters, hand tools, leak detectors, & mobile devices.

Reporting Relationships:
The Propane Delivery Driver reports directly to the District Manager. This position does not typically supervise other staff.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Related Experience: 1–2 years of commercial driving experience recommended, preferably in propane or fuel delivery.

• Licenses/Certifications: Valid CDL with hazmat, air brakes, and tanker endorsements required. CETP certification preferred.

Job Knowledge/Skills Required:

1. Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and propane delivery safety regulations.

2. Safe and defensive driving skills.

3. Strong customer service and communication skills.

4. Ability to perform basic leak tests and tank inspections.

5. Basic mechanical and troubleshooting ability.

6. Strong attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.

7. Ability to work independently and manage delivery routes efficiently.

8. Proficiency with handheld devices and digital mobile delivery systems.

9. Commitment to following safety procedures and company protocols.

10. Flexibility for on-call and overtime work.
