The University of Georgia is seeking to hire a Deer Research Technician to serve as an on-site project representative focused on monitoring GPS-collared white-tailed deer in northeastern Louisiana. This project is funded by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and aims to describe the movement ecology and cause-specific mortality of white-tailed deer relative to Mississippi River flooding and chronic wasting disease. The position is part-time for approximately 28 hours per month at a pay rate of $16/hour. The technician will be primarily responsible for monitoring GPS-collared deer via online software and radio telemetry, and conducting field investigations of deer mortalities. Further, the candidate will serve as the local point of contact between state agency personnel, private landowners, and the researchers in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia.
