Under limited supervision, the Dean of Health Sciences provides leadership and overall supervision of Robeson Community Colleges Health Sciences Division and reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer. This 12-month Full-Time Staff position is responsible for providing vision, direction, and oversight for all programs within the division. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the Dean teaches an assigned course and/or laboratory. The position also oversees health program planning, manages the day-to-day operations of the division, and ensures that high-quality, student-centered learning remains the focus of all courses and programs within the division.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent has the following duties and responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Foster a climate that supports positive growth among faculty and staff by promoting and advancing the goals and objectives of the departments, division, and college.
- Provide collaborative leadership, direction, and support for all programs within the division.
- Recruit, hire, orient, and develop success plans for direct reports, faculty, and staff.
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs of study while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the assessment of program-level outcomes and discipline-specific accreditation processes within the departments.
- Identify and develop new programs and course offerings that respond to workforce and community needs.
- Manage instructional processes through effective and collaborative planning.
- Foster collegial relationships among faculty, staff, and external partners.
- Provide leadership and oversight for Health Sciences programs and their advisory committees.
- Establish and maintain partnerships necessary to secure and sustain clinical learning sites for students in health programs.
- Collaborate with Continuing Education to identify initiatives that support and strengthen assigned programs.
- Partner with senior institutions to develop and maintain articulation agreements and bridge programs.
- Work with community partners, schools, and peer institutions to address community needs and enhance program effectiveness.
- Represent Health Sciences programs in institutional planning, decision-making, and budget development and management processes.
- Oversee and support program directors in the development and management of program budgets.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities that support instruction, professional development for faculty and directors, emerging technologies, innovation, and student learning initiatives.
- Teach assigned course and/or laboratory and provide instruction within Health Sciences programs as assigned.
- Support institutional initiatives that promote student access, success, and completion.
- Demonstrate a commitment to a student-centered learning environment and the comprehensive mission of the community college.
- Serve as a faculty advisor and maintain appropriate office hours.
- Address student appeals and mediate disputes between students and instructors when necessary.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
- Serve on college committees and participate in institutional service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Professional/Personal Development
- Participating in community college sponsored or endorsed professional/ personal development activities.
- Pursuing professional development courses, seminars, and workshops to enrich and/or enhance the quality of service provided to students, faculty and staff.
Other:
- Promoting Robeson Community College with local, state, regional, and national citizenry.
- Serving on college committees as assigned.
- Performing any other duties as assigned.
The incumbent maybe required to work a nonstandard work schedule as assigned.
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Education, or a closely related healthcare discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership or supervisory experience in higher education, healthcare education, or a clinical healthcare setting, with demonstrated oversight of academic programs, personnel, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare program accreditation, licensure, and regulatory requirements (e.g., MAERB, ACEN, CODA, NAACLS, NCBON, and applicable state and federal guidelines).
- Proven ability to manage budgets, staffing, scheduling, and operational processes within an academic or healthcare environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and external healthcare partners.
- Proficiency in the use of academic and/or administrative systems, such as student information systems, patient information systems, learning management systems, scheduling platforms, and reporting tools.
Additional Duties:
- Ability to meet faculty credentialing requirements as established by SACSCOC and relevant program accrediting agencies.
- Ability to maintain eligibility to teach and provide clinical oversight within Health Sciences programs, as applicable.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support clinical programs, recruitment activities, and college events.
- Possession of a valid drivers license and the ability to travel to clinical sites and other off-campus locations as needed.
