Role Overview Looking for a DB2 LUW DBA to manage, maintain, and optimize IBM DB2 databases across Linux, Unix, and Windows platforms. This role covers installation, configuration, tuning, security, backup/recovery, and collaboration with development and system admin teams to ensure high performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities Installation & Configuration: Set up new DB2 environments, install software, and configure per business needs. Performance Tuning: Analyze queries, resolve bottlenecks, optimize indexing, and manage data partitioning. Backup & Recovery: Design and implement robust strategies to ensure availability and minimal downtime. Security Management: Manage user roles, implement policies, and ensure compliance. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve DB2 issues (performance, connectivity, corruption). Collaboration: Work closely with developers and system administrators. Upgrades & Migrations: Plan and execute migrations with minimal disruption. Capacity Planning: Monitor resource usage and prepare for growth. Monitoring & Maintenance: Proactive health checks and performance monitoring. Documentation: Maintain technical and operational DB documentation.
Essential Skills DB2 LUW expertise (architecture, administration, performance tuning). OS knowledge: Linux, Unix, Windows. Database design & schema modeling skills. Strong SQL for data analysis and manipulation. Scripting experience (Bash, KSH) for automation. Troubleshooting & problem-solving skills. Strong communication & teamwork abilities. Database security awareness.
