Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.

Certifications Requirements:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Psychiatric certifications (e.g., SAMA) preferred but can be provided by the facility.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric, mental health, or ER nursing experience.
  • Experience working in crisis intervention or mental health units preferred.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric patient management and safety protocols.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, dayshift, 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Must live within 35-40 minutes of the facility.
  • Strong communication and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a new and evolving unit.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced mental health environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to patients in a newly established crisis intervention unit.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Monitor patient safety and intervene as necessary to manage symptoms and prevent harm.
  • Document patient progress, reactions, and treatment responses accurately and promptly.
  • Support patients through crisis stabilization and facilitate smooth transitions to appropriate ongoing care.
