JOB SUMMARY:
The Day Care Homes Monitor will assist in implementing the Day Care Home Program in compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations and the California State Department of Education requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors family child care providers to ensure compliance with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Child Care regulations.
Conduct required CACFP monitoring visits to assigned family child care homes, including:
Pre‑approval visits
Regularly scheduled monitoring visits
Unannounced reviews (as required by CACFP regulations)
Observe meal service to ensure meals are prepared and served according to CACFP meal pattern requirements.
Reviews menu planning worksheets and contracted home provider's menus for compliance to (CACFP) regulations.
Review menus, meal counts, enrollment forms, income eligibility statements, and attendance records for accuracy and compliance. Identify deficiencies, document findings, and provide corrective action guidance to providers.
Prepare written monitoring reports and maintain accurate, timely case documentation.
Assists in providing training to staff and contracted family child care providers on meal preparation, sanitation, record keeping, and nutrition education.
Assists in preparing the CACFP reimbursement claim.
Monitors CACFP eligibility and license documentation for contracted homes.
Attends all meetings and in-service training sessions as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Follow safety protocol and standards.
Assist Nutrition Education & Hunger Prevention Director as required/requested.
Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as directed.
Day Care Home Monitor I is an entry level position, and individuals are expected to advance to Day Care Home Monitor II upon satisfactory performance and meeting the necessary requirements, and when a vacancy exists.
Day Care Home Monitor II performs at an experienced level, may carry a greater workload, works independently or with little direct oversight, has advanced knowledge of CACFP Day Care Homes guidelines. Day Care Home Monitor II may train new staff on CACFP Federal and State guidelines related to Day Care Homes enrollment, and monitoring. Provides annual mandatory training for providers in Spanish and English. Prepares and reviews monthly reports to ensure provider payments.
