Summer Part-time - 25 hour per week - $12.00 hourly
This position is responsible for:
Greets children and parents upon arrival to the camp; leads and/or participates in leading children's activities at the day camp including music, arts and crafts activities, sports activities and specialized programs; prepares and serves children lunch and snacks; assists in leading field trips; maintains the cleanliness of the day camp area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
- Leads music, worship, crafts and sporting activities which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities to ensure intended messages and program plans are delivered.
- Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.
- Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside activities.
- Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.); prepares copies, faxes, scans, etc. as needed.
- Ensures the accountability, security and safety of children participating in camp activities and field trips; reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
- Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
- Work is performed in a normal camp environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required,
and
- two years' experience teaching child development programs,
or
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid state driver's license
- C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children.
- Ability to build effective and positive relationships and implement effective childhood programs and activities.
