CTG is seeking to fill a Database Platform Engineer (Telecom OSS) position for our client. This is an opportunity for an experienced database engineer with expertise in Oracle, Informix, Linux, and enterprise telecom OSS environments. The ideal candidate will support mission-critical operational systems, drive platform modernization initiatives, and collaborate across infrastructure, cloud, middleware, and application teams. Location: Piscataway, NJ Duration: 12 months Key Responsibilities Administer and support enterprise database platforms for Telecom OSS applications across development, testing, staging, and production environments. Manage Oracle, Informix, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and other relational database platforms. Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, migrations, backup/recovery, replication, and performance tuning. Support platform modernization initiatives involving migration from Solaris, HP-UX, and legacy Windows environments to Red Hat Enterprise Linux and modern Windows platforms. Monitor and optimize database performance for high-volume, mission-critical telecommunications systems. Collaborate with application, middleware, infrastructure, cloud, storage, and network engineering teams during transformation initiatives. Support hybrid deployment environments across on-premises data centers, Microsoft Azure, and AWS Outposts. Troubleshoot complex production issues spanning database, middleware, storage, networking, and application platform layers. Support middleware technologies including IBM MQ, Tuxedo, and Connect:Direct. Participate in high availability, disaster recovery, resiliency planning, and operational readiness activities. Develop automation scripts, operational procedures, and documentation to improve reliability and operational efficiency. Maintain technical documentation, support runbooks, and operational standards. Required Skills Oracle Database Administration Informix Database Administration PostgreSQL and MySQL administration SQL performance tuning and optimization Unix/Linux administration (Solaris, HP-UX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux) Windows Server administration IBM MQ, Tuxedo, and Connect:Direct Database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery Azure and AWS Outposts hybrid infrastructure Automation and scripting Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities Experience 8+ years supporting enterprise database and platform environments within large-scale distributed systems. Extensive hands-on experience administering Oracle and Informix databases in production environments. Experience supporting mission-critical systems with 24x7 operational requirements. Experience with telecom OSS/BSS platforms is strongly preferred. Knowledge of landline or TDM voice network environments, including 4ESS and 5ESS switching systems, is preferred. Familiarity with TDM provisioning, inventory management, and service activation workflows is a plus. Experience with cloud migration initiatives and hybrid infrastructure deployments. ITIL operational support experience is preferred. Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. The expected base salary for this position ranges from $55.00 to $60.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
