This has helped us expand into new sectors and steadily grow.Job DescriptionPosition: Database Optimizer EngineerLocation: Santa Clara, CADuration: 6+ Months contract, renew every 6 months Direct client: Immediate interviewJob summary:Database Optimizer Engineer candidates are sought to conduct leading-edge data management system research and development for scalable and high-performance massively parallel processing (MPP) database systems to support analytic and transactional applications in the cloud. The ideal candidates must enjoy tackling technical challenges when evaluating a complicated distributed data processing system. The candidates should have significant database knowledge and experiences in the areas of query optimization and processing, transaction processing, and high availability. Other important attributes are versatility and a passion for building high-quality enterprise-class software systems.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Research and develop cutting edge optimizer technologies for MPP database management system, focusing on the ones that are cloud ready/friendlyAnalyze requirements and research related technologies in the optimizer areas for MPP DBWork with a team of architects and engineers to develop proof-of-concept systems and componentsWrite and maintain detailed testing design and specificationsPerform design and code reviewsMinimum Job Requirements:Minimum 5 years of experience in research and development of DBMS with Master in CS or relevant field, or 7 years of experience with a Bachelor degree.Excellent documentation, organization and communication skillsExtensive experience with system software developmentKnowledge in database technologies including but not limited to parallel query optimization and processing, distributed transaction processing, workload management, and high availability featuresKnowledge in machine learningKnowledge in graph computing and information theory a plusExperience with PostgreSQL kernel a plusMust be a team playerSelf-motivated & detail orientedNOTES/ Q&A FROM THE HIRING MANAGERSoftware development, write, test and deliver code MUST have coding experience, complex server code Server side (services) (optimizer within the server database) Complex server code Developing something No applicationCandidate must haves Server experience Coding Software development If they work for Oracle, IBM, SAP they are database companies than we know they work on similar productsAdditional InformationThanks & Regards, Nagesh
