Kforce has a client that is seeking a Database Administrator in Tallahassee, FL. Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Database Administrator to support enterprise-level application and data architectures. This role is responsible for ensuring database schemas, data dictionaries, and processing architectures meet established departmental and security standards. The qualified candidate will assist with the design, development, optimization, and ongoing support of database and data warehousing solutions across multiple platforms and computing environments. The role requires close collaboration with technical teams to support a secure, scalable data architecture that complies with Department and Agency for State Technology (AST) standards. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform day-to-day database administration and operational support activities
  • Plan, design, implement, and support database structures across DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, and GIS platforms
  • Monitor database performance and conduct tuning and optimization activities
  • Develop and maintain database administration documentation, procedures, and standards
  • Perform SQL code reviews to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with standards
  • Assist in training and mentoring technical staff on database administration best practices
  • Support additional database or infrastructure initiatives as requested, including planning and coordination activities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience
Minimum 15 years of combined experience in database administration across the following platforms:
  • DB2 for z/OS
  • Microsoft SQL Server (2008 R2, 2012)
  • Oracle 10g and above
  • Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS, including application integration, performance management, catalog maintenance, subsystem recovery, and version upgrades
  • Strong expertise with JCL and the z/OS integrated platform
  • In-depth knowledge of CA GEN model management, ISPF, ASG Scheduler, and COBOL
  • Experience with DB2 for z/OS and z/OS monitoring and performance analysis tools
  • Knowledge of infrastructure implementation planning, coordination, and disaster recovery requirements
  • Working knowledge of z/OS started task management, RACF, CICS, IOF, AFOPER commands, and system exits
  • Solid working knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database administration, integration, and performance tuning
  • Experience supporting infrastructure change management and verification testing
  • Familiarity with Windows Server environments and Microsoft tools including SSMS, SSRS, and SSIS
  • Working knowledge of Azure and hybrid computing environments
  • Experience with integrated, enterprise database environments
Preferred Experience (Not Required):
  • Experience with integrated transportation or government database infrastructures
  • Familiarity with financial management or enterprise administrative applications
  • Experience working within large, integrated application ecosystems

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
