Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain our organization's databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database performance, integrity, security, and availability across multiple platforms. You will work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS), such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or MongoDB.

  • Monitor database performance, tune queries, and optimize indexes for high availability and speed.

  • Manage database backup and recovery processes, including disaster recovery planning.

  • Ensure database security by implementing access controls, encryption, and other best practices.

  • Perform regular audits and updates to ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and policies.

  • Automate routine database tasks through scripting and tools.

  • Collaborate with developers and data engineers to design database schemas and manage migrations.

  • Provide support for database-related incidents and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience as a DBA or in a similar role.

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with one or more DBMS (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).

  • Experience with backup and recovery tools, performance tuning, and high availability setups.

  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and best practices.

  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python) for automation.

  • Knowledge of data privacy and protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-based databases (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).

  • Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, or similar.

  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tools.

  • Exposure to data warehousing and business intelligence systems.
