    The Data QA Engineer will play a critical role in Schwab’s Data Exchange space by helping ensure data applications are tested with accuracy, consistency, and release readiness. In this role, you’ll partner across product, development, and quality teams to shape test strategies, assess requirements, estimate testing efforts, and guide functional, regression, end-to-end, and automated testing across complex data exchange platforms. Your work will help improve quality outcomes, reduce delivery risk, and create scalable testing practices that support critical data applications and enterprise priorities.


    This role requires strong problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration skills, especially when identifying defects, diagnosing root causes, managing release risks, and communicating testing progress to stakeholders. You’ll also help strengthen team effectiveness by supporting junior quality engineers, maintaining reusable test scenario libraries, and applying automation-focused thinking to improve how testing is planned, executed, and optimized over time.


    What you have


    Required qualifications


    + 10+ years of overall technology experience, including 8+ years as a Quality Engineer working on data warehouse and ETL projects

    + Experience writing and understanding SQL queries and scripts to validate data flows, support test execution, and perform data analysis

    + Experience with Python scripting

    + Experience testing data warehouse and ETL applications using Informatica IDMC/IICS

    + Experience with cloud technologies, specifically GCP

    + Experience working on large-scale API testing projects, including RESTful and SOAP APIs

    + Experience with Unix and basic shell scripting

    + Experience working on large-scale data engineering projects

    + Experience reviewing and applying test strategies and software test engineering best practices for both manual and automated testing

    + Experience with root cause analysis, defect diagnosis, defect tracking, and triage

    + Experience implementing test automation for data warehouse testing

    + Experience working in Agile environments

    + Advanced understanding of the software development life cycle

    + Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, prioritize work, and support delivery in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines

    + Strong analytical, troubleshooting, collaboration, negotiation, written communication, and verbal communication skills

    + Ability to summarize testing results, communicate progress clearly, and provide QA signoff to key stakeholders


    Preferred qualifications


    + Experience using Agile tools such as Jira or Rally

    + Experience with DevOps concepts and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bitbucket

    + Experience with REST Assured for automation

    + Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Excel macros

    + Experience working with Control-M

    + Experience with performance testing and monitoring tools such as JMeter or AppDynamics


    In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
