About the role

At CBRE Investment Management, asset data drives everything we do, from new investment decisions and managing our portfolio to client reporting. The Asset Domain Data Manager's role is to help make that data trustworthy and easy to use.

You will assess data quality across our critical systems, investigate the root cause of issues, and design and implement the controls, rules and remediation that resolve them. You will implement reporting that shows the business where problems sit and who needs to act, making data quality visible and driving the teams that produce and use asset data to keep it accurate, complete and consistent.

Working closely with the Asset Domain Data Trustee and sub-domain trustees, and in collaboration with the investment operations, data governance and technology teams, you will build deep expertise in the domain's business use and technical landscape, and influence how confidently the firm acts on its data. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role with no direct reports, focused on giving investment professionals and clients confidence in the data they rely on.

What you'll do:

  • Review overnight data quality dashboards and exception reports, triaging open Asset DQIs, reaching out to business data stewards to resolve issues and escalating systemic problems to the Data Trustee
  • Apply working knowledge of real estate data domains (ie. leasing, financials, debt and valuations) and their typical source systems, to investigate quality issues with appropriate business and technical context
  • Maintain the domain data catalogue in partnership with business SMEs, keeping definitions, ownership and lineage current as data products evolve.
  • Profile a complex asset data sample, investigating anomalies in financial performance metrics, conducting root cause analysis and documenting findings and recommended controls
  • Author or update data quality rules and definitions in the data governance tooling, ensuring rules are clearly documented with business rationale, ownership and expected outcomes
  • Facilitate a working session with investment or finance colleagues to align on a data definition discrepancy, driving agreement on standard attribute definitions, acceptable values and ownership
  • Engage a business stakeholder on an open compliance gap, and communicating the issue clearly, understanding the operational context and agreeing a practical and time-bound remediation plan
  • Participate in Domain Data Council meeting, presenting a structured update on asset domain data quality trends, open DQIs and active continuously improvement programs
  • Collaborate with Digital & Technology on requirements for a new data product or integration involving asset data, providing domain expertise on data structures, quality standards and business logic
  • Identify an opportunity to enhance first-line data quality monitoring through an automated rule or agentic workflow, and document the business case for the Data Council
  • Contribute to training or guidance materials for business data stewards on asset data standards, governance expectations and how to use data quality tooling effectively

What You Need:

  • At least five years of hands-on experience with asset data in real estate investment management, a REIT, commercial real estate service provider with strong familiarity with the data structures, terminology and complexity inherent in real assets private equity
  • You have a bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience, in Data Science/ Analytics, Finance, Real Estate, Technology or a related field; a data governance or data management certification (e.g. CDMP, DCAM, OSCRE) is advantageous
  • You have strong analytical and investigative skills and can profile large, complex datasets, identify root causes of data quality issues and design practical, sustainable controls and remediation approaches
  • You are skilled in data programming languages (eg. SQL, Python, R) and related tools and applications
  • You build positive and productive relationships with stakeholders across investment, finance and technology functions, are assertive and clear when raising compliance gaps but collaborative and solutions-focused in how you resolve them
  • You are intellectually curious about data, technology and investment management operations, and have an appetite to develop your skills in areas such as data engineering, AI-assisted quality monitoring or agentic automation
