Data Model Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Quality and Modeling Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with U IGC, RRAIT, IAI, IA, UDC/Alation, and BigEye. This role involves ensuring data quality, understanding data relationships, managing data lineage, profiling data, and applying trust flags and data tags. The candidate will also be responsible for creating and maintaining data models and working closely with business analysts and technical architects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring Data Quality: Utilize Bigeye's data observability features to monitor data quality and identify potential issues.
• Understanding Data Relationships: Use Alation's data catalog to understand the relationships between different data assets.
• Data Lineage: Identify the impact of changes to data assets using data lineage.
• Data Profiling: Determine the usability of data assets through data profiling.
• Trust Flags: Signal the trustworthiness of data using trust flags.
• Data Tagging: Identify data elements and apply appropriate tags to ensure proper tracking and measurements.
• Data Quality Rule/Plan: Determine and assign appropriate data quality rules, testing, and plans to ensure data veracity when the engine runs.
• Data Modeling: Independently create logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy.
• Model Optimization: Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects.
• Model Maintenance: Maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models along with corresponding metadata.
• Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts and technical architects to translate business and technical requirements into the logical data model.
• Consistency: Follow standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models.
• Validation: Evaluate and validate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies.

• Remediate data quality issues and KRI breaches.
• Assign data quality rules consistent with Enterprise Data Management standards.
• Identify and tag critical data elements and sensitive data elements.
• Conduct testing and respond to inquiries and requests from the enterprise
• Attend meetings, stand-ups, and maintain work JIRA logs.
• Communicate via email, Slack, and Zoom.

• Ensuring Data Quality: Experience using Bigeye's data observability features.
• Understanding Data Relationships: Proficiency with Alation's data catalog.
• Data Lineage: Ability to identify the impact of changes to data assets.
• Experience with ETL Tools: Such as Informatica, DataStage, Ab Initio, etc.
• , policies, standards, and procedures including IGC, RRAIT, IAI, IA, UDC/Alation, BigEye.
• Project Experience: Played a key role in at least 2 or 3 mid to large-sized projects.
