Data Engineer

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Data Engineer job in Montvale, NJ for our direct client. In this job, you will build and manage the company’s data infrastructure, ensuring data is accurate, accessible, and optimized for performance to support business intelligence, analytics, and reporting needs.

Data Engineer job responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain relational databases and cloud-based data warehouses
• Develop advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to process and analyze large datasets
• Build, automate, and orchestrate ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL, Python, and cloud-native tools
• Optimize database performance through indexing, partitioning, and schema design
• Ensure data integrity, quality, and consistency across systems
• Implement data security measures including encryption, data masking, and role-based access control
• Maintain technical documentation for database schemas, data dictionaries, and ETL workflows

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience with advanced SQL, including window functions, CTEs, and query optimization
• Strong understanding of relational database management systems and data modeling techniques
• Experience with Azure data services and cloud-based data warehouse technologies
• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and scripting
• Familiarity with ETL tools such as SSIS or Azure Data Factory
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cosmos DB preferred
• Experience with big data frameworks such as Apache Spark or Kafka preferred
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate preferred
