Client Location: Hybrid - 3 days per week on-site at hub on the West Coast; priority given toSan Francisco, 2nd option Seattle or 3rd option Menlo Park Potential exposure to graphic and/or objectionable content to any extent*TRAVEL - Potentially a few times a yearREQUIRED:- Bachelor's required- 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering (will accept 6+ DE YoE if their resume is otherwise outstanding and supplemented with 2+ non-DE YoE, and they can show experience leading a very broad and/or complex scope of work that requires expert-level DE skills)- Expert-level SQL (Presto, Postgres, MySQL, etc--any form is fine)- Expert-level Python- Experience building ETL pipelines- Expert-level proficiency using pipelining tools (e.g. Airflow, Dataswarm, etc)- Experience leading DE efforts on large XFN projects with a wide variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders- Most recent experiences have been as an IC (i.e. not a manager, team lead, TPM, and/or tech lead)- Expert-level comms- Due to the technical complexity of the role, we'd ideally like to find someone who has experience working on data warehousing and building (+ leading end-to-end projects to build) high-complexity monitoringNice to Have Skills: - Volunteer work or internship with a law firm or worked in privacy- Experience with remediating data lossLooking for candidates with recent experience as individual contributors (ICs). Not seeking managers, team leads, TPMs, or tech leads.Job Description:The main function of the Data Engineer is to develop, evaluate, test and maintain architectures and data solutions within our organization. The typical Data Engineer executes plans, policies, and practices that control, protect, deliver, and enhance the value of the organization’s data assets.Job Responsibilities: Manage data engineering projects through the full cycle. Identify and underline business initiatives from a data engineering perspective. Design, construct, install, test and maintain highly scalable data management systems. Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices. Design, implement, automate and maintain large scale enterprise data ETL processes. Build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models and proof of concepts.Skills: Ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently or with minimal direction. Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills. Collaborate with data architects, modelers and IT team members on project goals. Strong PC skills including knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint.Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.
