Data Engineer

Location: Seattle, Washington (Remote)

Employment Type: Contract


Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Engineer to support and enhance an existing data infrastructure. The position involves working on current data pipelines, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements for ETL solutions. The role requires a detail-oriented problem-solver who can collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop analytical solutions and support the development of a safety AI virtual assistant application.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work on existing data pipelines, including those involving Smartsheet and Redshift, addressing and resolving errors.
  • Improve and troubleshoot data pipelines and processes.
  • Manage and fix bugs, including working on automated review tickets.
  • Implement improvements and optimizations to the current data architecture to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain efficient data pipelines using AWS services to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and business intelligence engineers to define and execute data strategies.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure data environment integrity.
  • Document data pipeline designs, data models, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 3+ years of data engineering experience, including data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with AWS technologies, specifically AWS Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, and Step Function.
  • Proficiency in Python, including the ability to read, write, and debug code following best practices.
  • Experience with AWS CDK (Cloud Development Kit) to manage code for ETL processes.
  • Strong experience with SQL.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience with AWS CodePipeline and AWS CodeBuild is a plus.
  • Knowledge of internal ticketing and data governance tools.

Compensation & Benefits

The pay rate for this position is projected to be between $70.00 and $75.00 per hour. The final rate will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
