TITLE:  Data Center Technician

SHIFT: Monday – Friday, standard business hours


We are seeking a Data Center Facility Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and operation of Data Center infrastructure and related IT services. This role is responsible for supporting controlled Data Center environments and assisting with the full lifecycle of Data Center assets including installation, monitoring, maintenance, and retirement of infrastructure, cabling, servers, storage, networking equipment, and related systems.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement and maintain structured cabling solutions including fiber and copper infrastructure
  • Maintain Data Center areas in accordance with operational, technical, safety, security, quality, and compliance standards
  • Maintain work queues within workflow and ticketing systems and progress activities through completion
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams and external vendors to support installation and activation of IT assets
  • Coordinate and perform hardware installations and acceptance activities within Data Center environments
  • Coordinate facility-related installation and maintenance activities with Facilities teams
  • Support electrical, cabling, and infrastructure maintenance activities within the Data Center environment
  • Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, equipment, and related materials
  • Conduct daily site walkthroughs, identify issues, create tickets, communicate with involved parties, and drive issues through resolution
  • Participate in Data Center design and operational support activities as assigned
  • Maintain technical and operational documentation including asset records, testing documentation, workflow records, diagrams, floorplans, and port assignments
  • Support Data Center operational activities, project work, and assigned technical initiatives
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 3 years of operations, maintenance, or repair experience within a 24x7 controlled operating environment
  • Knowledge of IP and SAN networking fundamentals
  • Experience implementing and supporting structured cabling systems including fiber and copper cabling
  • Proficiency using data cabling test equipment
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, workflow/ticketing systems, and Microsoft Visio is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively within operational and technical support environments
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and support operational workflows effectively
  • Ability to lift and move equipment as required
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, UPS systems, and building electrical distribution systems is ideal
