Key job responsibilities

The selected individual will be responsible for managing physical security operations, developing post orders, defining security procedures, handling site incidents, working with security equipment, participating in construction projects and to drive day-to-day process improvement activities and managing vendors.

Duties include ensuring consistent deployment of all required security policies and procedures and participate in re-occurring site audits and reviews and testing new security technologies.

Must have and demonstrate resilient leadership skills, flexibility to work in dynamic environment, exceptional knowledge of security practices and strong written and verbal communication.

A day in the life

A day typically begins with a comprehensive review of any security incidents or operational issues that occurred. They start their duties by conducting thorough security system checks, including testing access control systems, verifying camera operations, and reviewing alarm panel statuses.

Throughout the day, they actively participate in operations meetings with the DC Operations team to align on maintenance activities, review vendor access requests, and address any emerging security concerns. They conduct detailed facility walkthroughs, inspecting perimeter security, checking equipment condition, and documenting any vulnerabilities in the security tracking system.

A significant portion of their day involves managing security-related tickets, including processing badge access requests, coordinating vendor escorts, and handling security system maintenance requests. They take ownership of vendor management activities, overseeing the security guard force operations, verifying SLA compliance, and conducting random post inspections to ensure quality service delivery.

The specialist regularly participates in security team meetings where they review metrics, discuss process improvements, and coordinate upcoming projects. They dedicate time to administrative responsibilities such as updating security procedures, completing required reports, reviewing camera footage, and documenting incidents as needed.

Throughout their shift, they remain responsive to any security incidents or alarms, maintaining constant vigilance over the facility"s security posture. The role requires them to maintain effective communication with various stakeholders, including vendors, contractors, and internal teams.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here
