Reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Center Risk and Assurance, this role sits at the center of Nscale's construction security efforts and works closely with Construction, Site Selection, Legal, Procurement, Design, Security Engineering, and Security Operations. You'll ensure physical security requirements are embedded throughout the full construction lifecycle, from site selection and pre-construction planning through design, contract negotiation, construction, commissioning, and operational handover.

This role is critical to helping Nscale identify security risks early, translate requirements into practical controls and contractual obligations, and drive consistent standards across a growing global portfolio. You'll also serve as Nscale's primary physical security representative during site visits, contractor engagements, and regulatory interactions related to construction security.

What you'll be doing

Program Leadership

  • Develop and continuously enhance Nscale's global Data Center Construction Security Program.
  • Standardize physical security requirements across data center construction projects globally.
  • Monitor program performance and identify opportunities to improve, scale, and strengthen the program across the portfolio.

Lifecycle Security Integration

  • Support construction teams across the full project lifecycle, including site selection, planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational turnover.
  • Ensure physical security requirements are integrated from project inception through completion.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to embed security standards into project designs, construction activities, and operational handover processes.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation

  • Conduct physical security risk assessments and security due diligence for greenfield developments and active construction sites.
  • Identify construction-related security risks early and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with Construction Management, General Contractors, Security Design, and Security Operations to proactively assess and address emerging risks.

Contracts, Requirements, and Site Controls

  • Partner with Legal, Procurement, Construction, and Security stakeholders to incorporate security requirements into contracts, statements of work, and subcontractor agreements.
  • Develop and enforce construction security requirements, including contractor vetting, site access control, credential management, visitor procedures, and construction site security operations.
  • Translate physical security requirements into contractual obligations, design standards, and operational processes.

Governance, Incident Response, and Representation

  • Conduct site visits and security assessments to evaluate compliance with Nscale security standards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Oversee implementation of security requirements by Construction Managers, General Contractors, landlords, and other project stakeholders, including review of security plans, incident investigations, CAPAs, and security performance metrics.
  • Lead cross-functional incident response efforts and root cause analyses for physical security events during construction.
  • Serve as Nscale's primary physical security representative during contractor engagements, regulatory inspections, and government interactions related to construction security matters.

KPIs

  • Construction security program performance metrics
  • Compliance with Nscale physical security standards across active projects
  • Timely completion of corrective action plans (CAPAs)
  • Early identification and mitigation of construction-related security risks

About You

  • Experience managing physical security programs for large-scale construction projects, data centers, or other critical infrastructure environments
  • Experience supporting security requirements across the full construction lifecycle, from site selection through commissioning and operational turnover
  • Strong knowledge of physical security controls, including contractor vetting, site access control, credential management, visitor procedures, and site security operations
  • Experience conducting physical security risk assessments and security due diligence for greenfield and active construction sites
  • Experience partnering with Legal, Procurement, Construction, Design, Security Engineering, and Security Operations teams
  • Ability to translate security requirements into contracts, statements of work, subcontractor agreements, design standards, and operational processes
  • Experience reviewing security plans, supporting incident investigations, and driving corrective action plans (CAPAs)
  • Confidence representing security requirements during site visits, contractor engagements, regulatory inspections, and government interactions
  • Strong cross-functional communication, stakeholder management, and program execution skills
