Data Analyst with Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN)
Build data analytics and strategic insights capabilities in the Office of Deputy Provost and the Office of the Provost. Work cross-functionally to understand organizational data and reporting needs, lead data analysis for key initiatives, and deliver data-driven strategic findings to the Office of Deputy Provost and university leadership. Stay up to date on institutional resources and training related to the University’s overall data strategy. Increase data literacy in the Offices to encourage a culture of data-driven decision making. Partner with leadership to understand data-reporting needs and define the required systems and processes for enablement. Document processes for data collection and reporting, seeking efficiencies where possible but also developing documentation to protect data integrity and transparency. Serve as data steward for data under the ownership of the Office of Deputy Provost, including faculty data, representing the Office in Data Governance discussions. Partner with the Office of Deputy Provost colleagues, deans’ offices, and DSA to improve data quality, ensure data integrity and enhance usability. Analyze complex data, including financial, HR, platform and academic program data, to address key organizational needs and shape strategic priorities. Develop dynamic data reporting dashboards to track key performance indicators for executive level audiences. Create presentations to communicate strategic, data-informed findings and recommendations to executive leadership, including Vanderbilt’s Board of Trust. Conduct market research, including the analysis of labor market trends, benchmarking data and competitive insights for key initiatives.
Job Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Data Science, Data Analytics or related quantitative field. Position requires experience (3 years with a Bachelor’s or 1 year with a Master’s). Must have some experience in each of the following skills: Data analysis or strategic research; Data collection, reporting, and visualization systems including Tableau, SQL and R; Working with and articulating and presenting information to multiple diverse constituencies; Development of dynamic data dashboards to inform organizational decision-making; Strategic thinking and decision-making to manage multiple projects with changing priorities and strict deadlines while handling sensitive and confidential information.
