Job Description

The Solutions and Analytics Team within Mizzou Online delivers scalable, high-performing analytic dashboards, reports, and insights to stakeholders at MU. We are seeking an analyst to help discover actionable data from a variety of higher education sources. The ideal candidate will enjoy transforming data into easy-to-use reports and dashboards, and have a service-oriented mindset with a strong desire to help stakeholders uncover insights from learning-related datasets.

Job Responsibilities:

Analyzes and validates data

  • Analyzes and interprets data sets specific to higher education to uncover insights, patterns, trends, and associated success metrics.
  • Ensures accuracy and validity of queries and the data being produced.

Organizes and models data

  • Organizes primary data and adds supporting data for use specifically in Power BI
  • Organize and model data using SQL
  • Uses Dax and M to create fields as needed for Power BI.

Collaborates with stakeholders

  • Coordinates and collaborates with stakeholders and other subject matter experts to develop and provide basic actionable information in support of improvement initiatives.
  • Promotes the use of data to answer questions in support of unit goals.

Builds reports and presentations

  • Using the collected data and information gathered from meeting with stakeholders, creates routine reports, dashboards, and presentations that are easy to read and interpret.
  • Uses data visualization tools to present results and information

Documentation and continuous improvement

  • Maintains documentation for data management, analysis and reporting activities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Strong collaboration and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate data concepts to stakeholders and audiences with varied levels of expertise.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a passion for data accuracy.
  • Possesses an in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in the data analysis function and begins to acquire knowledge in other related functions.

Shift

8AM-5PM CST Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates will also be evaluated on the following preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced professional experience in data analysis and reporting including the use of data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Excel Pivot tables and charts,etc).
  • Professional experience using Power BI, specifically using Dax with a working knowledge of M.
  • Two or more years of experience in working in Higher Education and/or working with Higher Education datasets (e.g., PeopleSoft, Slate, IPEDs).
  • Two or more years of experience with structured query language (SQL) to query, analyze, validate and model data.
  • Knowledge of data controls and applicable regulatory/legal requirements (e.g. HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, FTC, PCI, etc.) in protecting confidential and/or sensitive data.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually

Grade: GGS-11
