HealthPartners is hiring a Data Analyst - Epic Reporting. In support of HealthPartners'' mission to make healthcare simple and affordable, this role helps transform data into meaningful insights that improve patient and member experiences, advance health outcomes, and support the delivery of cost-effective care.
The Data Analyst partners with business and technology teams to analyze, validate, and visualize data that informs decision-making across the organization. Working within a collaborative Agile environment alongside developers, data engineers, and data scientists, this individual contributes to the delivery of reporting, analytics, and scalable data solutions that help stakeholders better understand and act on information.
This role develops expertise within a specific business domain and serves as a trusted resource for data analysis, reporting, and consultation. By turning complex data into actionable insights, the Data Analyst helps drive adoption of analytics and supports data-informed decisions that positively impact patients, members, and the communities HealthPartners serves.
This position reports to the Manager, IT Epic Reporting Analytics and joins a collaborative team of seven Data Analysts dedicated to delivering high-quality reporting and analytics solutions across the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Mathematics, Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Social Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related quantitative field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- One (1) year experience using data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, etc.
- Foundational knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling insights and actionable recommendations.
- Experience using analytical and technical skills to extract, integrate, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively share findings with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Naturally curious, self-motivated, and creative, with a passion for solving problems through data.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with developers, business partners, and end users.
- Demonstrated success working as part of diverse, cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with Epic Clarity
- Previous experience with Epic Caboodle and/or Epic Cogito SQL
- Familiarity with Python, R, or similar analytical programming languages.
- Knowledge of healthcare operations and healthcare data environments is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira.
- Interest in learning and applying healthcare terminology and coding systems, including ICD-10, CPT, DRG, and GPI.
- Understanding of software development concepts, data architecture, and system integration principles.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies, tools, and business processes.
Hours/Location:
- M-F; core business hours.
- This is a hybrid position with the flexibility to work primarily remotely. While most work can be performed offsite, we strongly prefer local candidates who can occasionally attend onsite meetings, workgroup sessions, and team gatherings as needed.
Responsibilities:

- Partners with domain experts, business groups, and data engineers to frame problems, model, clean and integrate data, and determine the best way to leverage that data in service of a goal.
- Works with business partners to understand and create their "user stories;" they support opportunities to leverage data analytics in service of customer or business value.
- Partners with other analysts to create, deploy, monitor, and maintain highly interactive data visualizations.
- Participates in strategic measurement activities, including Return on Investment (ROI) analyses, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) development, risk assessment, and indexing, as well as domain-specific measurements (example: readmission rates)
- Works with their teams to ensure data accessibility, accuracy, and quality.
- May provide consultative, data-driven support on product and business strategy development.
- Execute test cases to validate that analytic and software solutions meet the business acceptance criteria.
- Data analysts leverage internal and external sources to validate data accuracy and benchmark results.
- Promotes and champions our security and de-identification standards, while they manage sensitive administrative data (medical and pharmacy claims, clinical data, and other sensitive organizational data assets).
