Perform a variety of analytical functions required to support the college's assessment, evaluation, planning, and reporting functions; assist with record maintenance; store and maintain the archive of institutional documents and historical college data; assist with design, administration, and summary analysis of surveys; maintain outcome assessment data and records; and perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Query, retrieve, and summarize data from specialized databases and information systems including data warehouse and Colleague to support the college's assessment, evaluation, planning, and reporting functions.

Collect and extract demographic and economic data from local, state, and national sources for planning purposes.

Work with college departments, committees, and individuals to search out, develop, organize, and report information from current databases for decision-making, analysis, and published reports.

Assist in preparing institutional data and documentation required for SACSCOC reaffirmation, Fifth Year Review, substantive change, and monitoring reports, as well as for specialized program accreditations.

Maintain the archive and storage of institutional documents and historical college data.

Assist with the design, administration, and summary analysis of student, faculty, staff, and employer research surveys for internal and external stakeholders including graduate, course evaluations, environmental, and others.

Maintain knowledge of useful software and electronic processes for data architecture, informational analysis and processing, report generation, and improved data management.

Coordinate the College grant procedures and processes by:

  • Providing technical, statistical, and report writing expertise to departments, faculty and staff.
  • Conduct literature reviews to support grant writing.
  • Communicating grant opportunities internally.
  • Monitor grant budgets, reporting and timelines.

Provide technical, statistical, and report writing expertise to departments, faculty, and staff.

Publish annual Factbook and Environmental Scan.

Maintain Student Success Center monthly time and effort sheets.

Review Continuing Education folders as part of the internal audit team.

Coordinate activities with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness.

Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Associate degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Preference given to candidates with a degree in database management, computer programming, decision sciences, statistics or related field. Prior experience in institutional research and the community college environment is preferred.

Candidates should have experience using databases, spreadsheets, graphical tools, and proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong skills in Excel and Access (or alternative database). Candidates should possess a working knowledge of ERP systems, reporting tools, statistical and analytical software, online surveying software, and planning, budgeting and assessment software.

The successful candidate will possess knowledge of student learning outcomes, survey design, report writing, and the accreditation process along with excellent organizational skills, technical communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff, and computer skills. The Data and Research Specialist will be able to self-direct and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, adhere to deadlines, and work independently as well as in group settings.
