Responsibilities:

Position Description:
The AI/Data Advisor – Sr provides senior-level advisory support to Capability Development & Integration (CD&I) leadership on the integration, employment, and governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and advanced analytics across USMC capability development activities. This position serves as a strategic advisor, translating operational and capability development requirements into data- and AI-enabled solutions, and aligning AI/ML efforts with USMC/DoD policies, data standards, and enterprise architectures.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Advise CD&I leadership on AI/ML concepts, capabilities, and implementation strategies in support of USMC force development, experimentation, and requirements generation.
  • Identify, prioritize, and frame AI/ML use cases, including expected outcomes, data needs, and integration risks.
  • Assess existing data sources, data quality, and data architectures to determine feasibility of AI/ML and advanced analytics solutions.
  • Develop and present decision-quality briefs, white papers, and recommendations to senior stakeholders, to include trade-space analysis and courses of action (COAs).
  • Coordinate with data engineers, data scientists, and functional/operational stakeholders to ensure AI/ML solutions are technically feasible, operationally relevant, and aligned with USMC data strategy.
  • Support the development of requirements, concepts of employment (CONEMPs), and doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership, personnel, facilities, and policy (DOTMLPF-P) products that incorporate AI/ML capabilities.
  • Provide technical and policy guidance on AI governance, model lifecycle management, ethical AI, and compliance with DoD AI and data directives.
  • Participate in working groups, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and experimentation events to represent CD&I AI/data interests.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, AI/ML, or related disciplines, with at least 5 years supporting DoD or USMC organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience advising senior leadership on AI/ML and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, data architectures, and analytic methods (e.g., supervised/unsupervised learning, predictive analytics, optimization).
  • Familiarity with DoD/USMC data strategies, JCIDS, requirements development, and capability-based planning.
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical issues into clear, concise, decision-ready information.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience with USMC CD&I, MCCDC, or related HQMC/MEF staff organizations.
  • Exposure to AI/ML tooling and platforms (e.g., Python-based ML stacks, cloud-based AI services) sufficient to understand implementation trade-offs.
Pay Transparency Statement: AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $191,500.00/Yr. - USD $319,700.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
